Imagine the thrill of walking in the footsteps of Auguste Escoffier, the French Chef who single-handedly revolutionized the operation of French kitchens and the role of the chef. Known as the king of chefs and the chef of kings, Escoffier designed the first state of the art restaurant kitchens and served fabulous food to heads of state and major artists of his day.
2006 marks the 160th anniversary of Escoffiers birth in Villeneuve-Loubet in the south of France. Les Liaisons Delicieuses has created a very special anniversary trip to introduce food and wine lovers to his life, loves, and his amazing contributions to the world of gastronomy and the art of living very well.
We will begin our extraordinary week in Paris where Escoffier masterminded the creation of the kitchens at the Ritz Hotel. Highlights of our three days in Paris include a very special reception and dinner at La Tour dArgent, a cooking class and lunch inspired by Auguste Escoffier with Chef Gael Orieux at his new restaurant, Auguste, and a blacktie gala with an Escoffier menu in the sumptuous ballroom at Baccarat.
On day four, we will fly to Nice where we will have a Champagne reception and dinner at the Musee de lArt Culinaire, which is in the house where Escoffier was born. His great -grandson, Michel Escoffier, will join in for this special evening. Other highlights include a cooking class and lunch at the Bastide St. Antoine in Nice with Chef Jacques Chibois, a disciple of Escoffier, and a Riviera Escoffier gala at the Hotel Hermitage in Monte Carlo. This amazing trip is truly a once in a lifetime experience.
